Art Bra Models

Art Bra Austin Models form a collective group of Central Texas women who have faced or are facing breast cancer. They are all clients of BCRC and their stories are living testaments to the work we do in the community.

Art Bra Austin is a tribute to the courage, tenacity, and diversity of these women and all the women we serve.

Models – Call for Models

Call for models

Soon BCRC will extend an invitation for Art Bra Models – the central feature of the evening’s festivities. The call for models is open to all clients of BCRC. There are no restrictions related to age, ethnicity, size, or stage of disease. If you’d like to join this feisty group of women, we’d love to have you.

No prior modeling experience is required. We will provide you with all the support you’ll need. We’ll have informational meetings, art bra fittings, Model School, and the opportunity to meet the artists in a social setting. Art Bra Austin has a friendly crew of veteran models who’d be delighted to show you the ropes. Being an Art Bra Model is a remarkable experience, and we’d be honored to have you participate.

Art Bra Model Applications are currently closed and will reopen in early  February 2018. Please stay tuned!

How to apply

Art Bra Model Eligibility

The 2018 show will include approximately 40 Art Bra Models. Due to the mission-centered vision of Art Bra Austin and the complexity of this event, we kindly ask that only those who meet the following criteria apply:

  1. Must be a client of BCRC or has been active in the organization in some significant way
  2. Must be a current resident of Central Texas and will remain a resident from February 2018 till June 2018
  3. Must be able to submit a signed Medical Release Form if currently in or are within five years of treatment
  4. Must be able to attend at least two of the following required pre-show model events…

Model Fitting – Date is TBD
This event takes place over the course of an entire Saturday and is one of the most important events of the Art Bra process. Models are asked to choose from a list of 1 hour time slots slated throughout the day. Each model comes in during her allotted time slot to try on several art bras and narrow down the selection into a grouping of options that will best suit her.

Model School – Date is TBD
This event takes place from 10am till 2pm on a Saturday. Models are prepped and trained on what they can expect in the lead up and day of the event. They are also set up with their personal fundraising platform, and hear advice and helpful tips from veteran Art Bra Models. Model School sets the stage for a successful event experience for every model who attends.

Costume Clinics – Date is TBD
These clinics are held on three different days, ranging between four and six hours each day. Models only need to attend one day, and will once again choose from a list of 1 hour time slots slated throughout that day. Each model comes in during her allotted time slot to try out costuming options for the show. Attending the costume clinic is also one of the most important commitments of being an Art Bra Model.

Model Application – What You Need to Know

Applications accepted on a first come, first serve basis!

This year’s roster will consist of approximately 40 Art Bra Models. In order to achieve a fair proportion of new vs. returning models for the 2017 show, BCRC will be capping the number of received applications at 30 for each type (returning vs. first-time)

There are separate applications for returning model applicants and first-time model applicants.

The application period will close at midnight on the deadline date OR sooner if the number of applications received surpass the number we are able to accept.

We kindly ask each client to commit to serving as a model for two consecutive years. Although this two-year commitment is not a requirement, we rely on our returning Art Bra Models to help guide and mentor the newcomers. For this reason, we expect to fill at least half of this year’s roster with returning (or ‘veteran’) models. If you have modeled in the show for more than two years, your application may initially be placed on a waiting list to ensure new models have the chance to participate.

The Art Bra Model Application includes:

  1. Online application form (found below)
  2. Medical Release Form*
(required only for BCRC clients who are within five years of treatment or are currently in treatment)

*BCRC clients who are within five years of treatment or are currently in treatment (defined as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery) are required to submit a signed release from your doctor indicating the level at which it is safe for you to participate. If you have not been in treatment for more than five years, you are exempt from having to provide a medical release.

Important: Most doctors do NOT require an appointment before completing your Medical Release Form. Please check with your doctor’s office to confirm this. The form can be delivered to BCRC through one of three ways:
— email:
— mail/hand-delivery: 4807 Spicewood Springs Road Bldg. 1 Suite 1100 Austin, TX 78759
— fax: 512-717-7545 ATTN: Nik Ireland, Development Associate
